Jamie's Great Grandmother channeled through to give her top 10 on how to help and parent the Indigo child. She also encourages us to use these tips with everyone as we all are going through a phase of enlightenment.

How to Communicate with a Spiritual Child

1. Keep the child well informed and involved: give the child simple explanations on their eye level.
2. Keep your word. If you are making a promise or stating that something will happen then you must follow through. If you are not sure you can do this then explain to the child that you cannot keep your word.
3. Deal with each situation in the moment. Do not walk away and explain "things" later even if you are tired. Stick to it! Talk it through while it is happening.
4. Do not react to your child even if it is positive or negative. The child learns from your reaction.
5. Avoid giving direct orders. When you say to the child, "Do this!" You will most likely hear "NO!" Indigo children have a sense of royalty and do not like to be told to do anything! Give the child options even if it options that you want them to have.
6. No hitting or abusive language. The child will never forget this and will not forgive you for it either. You only have one chance with this so stay calm and be honest with these children.
7. Let your emotion show love. Remember love does have degrees. Do show how to debate and reason but always come from the place of love and honor when you are upset.
8. Use time-outs if reprimand is given. Base your time-outs on the age of the child. Time-outs work because you are removing the child from the environment that was causing them to misbehave and not listen to you. When they are in time-out ask the child to find their "center." The center is the inner calm space.
9. Talk the situation over after the reprimand. If you fail to do this, the child will hold confusion and resentment to you. They need the chance to apologize and to close the matters at hand. Remember do everything in the now.
10. After, always join together and ascertain that all is smoothed out. Let all negative energy/ emotions be gone. Just like that, let everything be OK. Indigo children can do this. You can watch them on moment as they express anger, and the next moment be calm. They do not hold grudges.

An exercise you can do with your child to help open up the telepathic skills they come naturally with:

Find two sets of three items. These three items must be different than each other. It could be shape, colour or what it is made of. Sit back to back and place a set of three items in front of each person. Have the child go first by choosing an object and then you (without looking) do your best to choose the same object. See how many times you choose the same thing.

This month Love and Light is graced with a guest channeler, Nancy Paris.
